Our
Story
Our Founder
Born into a struggling family with a father who dismissed education, Nalubega Mourreen defied societal norms. At just nine, she sold milk, charcoal, and potatoes to support her family and fund her schooling. Her determination attracted generous supporters who recognized her passion for learning and helped her achieve her dreams.
Our Milestones
Despite losing her colleagues' support, Mourreen's determination led her to establish Coloured Star Ministries, transforming her vision into a lasting source of hope and change.
Successful launch of Coloured Star Junior School project in 2018 as well as successful completion of detergent sanitation project.
Where we began
In 2015, Mourreen and her colleagues formed a community group, sharing their salaries to support children and women facing struggles similar to hers.
And now

Our Program & Initiatives
Education
Inability to access good quality education is one of the root cause of poverty cycles in most families and we believe that education is a fundamental tool in breaking these chains of poverty. This program enhances literacy, numeracy, life skills and access to scholastic materials to all our beneficiaries to equip and make them ready for the poverty fight.
Health
Our program empowers underserved communities to combat infectious diseases through education and resources. We provide hygiene workshops, door-to-door campaigns, and promote access to clean water and sanitation. By partnering with local health services for screenings and vaccinations, we aim to reduce preventable illnesses, fostering healthier and more resilient communities for a brighter future.
Food Security
Food is a life necessity to humans especially in child growth and development but most of the families in our communities that are stuck in poverty struggle to afford at least meal a day. This has not only made it hard for such families to get out of poverty cycles but also exposed the young ones to diseases that come as a result of malnutrition. This program aims at making it easier for such families to access enough food through seasonal food distribution, provision of seeds, garden tools, pesticides, fertilizers and also sensitization of communities on improved farming methods.
Discipleship
Our Discipleship and Spiritual Growth Program nurtures individuals in their faith journey through intentional teaching, mentoring, and community engagement. We provide Bible studies, leadership training, and one-on-one mentorship to help participants deepen their relationship with God. By fostering spiritual growth and empowering leaders, we aim to cultivate a community of believers who live out their faith in transformative ways.
